But then you have the manufacturers that try to make it all work out, nobody buys it, and then people are left scratching their heads when they wonder why manufacturers don’t bother anymore.

I don’t think that’s true for the SS. GM didn’t WANT to sell a lot of those. They imported them because they had to, due to an agreement with the Australian government. Probably didn’t make any money on them, so importing more of them did nothing for the bottom line.

But otherwise I think it’s mostly that there just isn’t enough of us.

The SS probably sold more than GM expected/wanted. It was simply a fulfillment of the contract they had with the Australian union workers at the assembly plant.

If anything, we may get a replacement in the future because it sold remarkably well for the company literally trying as little as possible to sell them.

I’d buy a four door Camaro or a “crossover” version
